Hypocrite. Yes, most politicians are hypocrites. Illinois Senator Barack Obama is one too. He spoke at his Town Hall meeting and warned his constituents of driving gas guzzling vehicles. And then he drove away in a GMC Envoy. Nice.

His spokesman had the balls to claim it was an E85 ethanol vehicle. Too bad it isn’t. The Envoy isn’t available with the E85 option.

So can someone tell me why presenting a valid form of identification in order to vote in Ohio is causing such a stir?

Why don’t these same groups bitch and moan about the fact that in order to get a drivers license in Ohio you must present your Social Security card?

High heels and high tech just got busy and New York taxpayers paid the fee. It seems that New York has seen fit to help their prostitutes by funding a project to create safer hooker heels. Not safer as in only 4″ so that the ladies don’t strain their legs or trip while strutting at the corner. Safer as in equipped with GPS tracking (so Pimpdaddy can track his ladies), a 911 emergency alarm, and a panic siren.

The features also include built in speakers and a video display so that clients can get some advertising before they “get some”.

This must be some sort of business incentive or maybe an incubator project to get more tax revenue for the state of New York. We assume that the shoes would be subject to sale tax. After all the fees charged by the hookers are almost as taxable as restaurant tips right?

These would probably be illegal in Canada where prostitution is legal but solicitation is not. I wonder how the New York State Council on the Arts justifies using taxpayer money to fund an illegal activity?

So Russ Lemmon over at the Toledo Blade is griping about how “Toledo” is a class “A” city for concerts. He complains about the Lucas County fair bringing in what ALL county fairs bring; worn out acts. Later in his article he applauds the city of Defiance for honoring Sam Hornish Jr.

Strange but wasn’t his paper that helped sabotage the Rossford amphitheater project because it wasn’t in Toledo. Heaven help the Blade to support a regional project like Rossford’s arena and amphitheater. But somehow Russ doesn’t notice his hypocrisy in supporting another city’s effort to honor one of its achievers. I suppose the Blade hasn’t dug up any dirt on Hornish.

The Rossford amphitheater would have brought in the same “triple A” acts that Russ so desires. The fact is that Toledo will never host the same acts that appear at DTE because Toledo is too close to DTE and the performers are contractually forbidden to appear within 100 miles of DTE. Rossford happens to be outside the 100 mile limit.

It’s too bad that Russ, the Blade, Carty Finkbeiner, and Toledo city council all can’t grasp the concept of regional cooperation. The Rossford project would have helped Toledo. It would have helped, not harmed, Toledo’s economy. Most people, when they go to a concert at DTE, don’t say they are going to Clarkston, Michigan, rather they say “Detroit”. Detroit benefits from DTE. Rossford is, the last I knew, part of the greater Toledo area.

So Russ, perhaps next year, because of a lack of “quality” concert venues in Toledo, the fair will again host some overt the hill, past their prime act. Or better yet, maybe they can resurrect the Raspberries? If the Toledo area did have a “triple A” venue, the Fair would stand a much better chance courting better quality acts.

But wait, the Fair is held in Maumee, not Toledo. So why is he complaining at all? Oh yeah, it’s just part of the Blade’s habitual hypocrisy. They glommed on to the Jamie Farr Open which is held in Sylvania, Ohio (not Toledo by the way). They gushed about how great it was that “Toledo” had a LPGA tournament. So if they can support a non-Toledo event why can’t they support one in Rossford?
