The citizens of Toledo, Ohio suffered another tragic loss today when they lost their highly regarded Chief of Police, a victim of “Brain Drain”. Because of Mayor Carty Finkbeiner’s unprofessional behavior, bratty attitude and alleged threats of physical violence, Chief Smith felt that he could no longer be Carty’s whipping boy and resigned his command.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner threw yet another one of his epic tantrums and forced Chief Smith from office. Mayor Carleton “Carty” Finkbeiner has a reputation of throwing tantrums, punches as well as coffee cups. Carty has recently expressed concern about the migratory behavior of Toledo residents. As they mature and near the age of 18 or 22, many Toledoans migrate or flee from the city for places of prosperity and solitude, two things that are lacking under the Carty Finkbeiner regime. This phenomenon has been named “brain drain’. A study of Carty’s brain has not yet been undertaken to find the root cause of this problem that Toledo has long suffered.

Chief Smith is a Vietnam veteran, former Marine, and has been on the Toledo police force for 33 years. In contrast, Mayor Finkbeiner is the graduate of an exclusive private high school and a career politician that has been brought up on, and plead guilty to, several ethics charges, and has been the target of several civil lawsuits during his tenure as mayor including several that claimed he physically threatened and assaulted residents.

Unfortunately Mayor Finkbeiner chose this path for Toledo. It’s sad to lose another talented resident to “Brain Drain”. Perhaps it would have been better if Carty would have taken one of his famous “Golden Showers” and cooled his hot head before firing off at the Chief.

What year 2006 has been for political scandals! Not since Bill Clinton have we seen such political debauchery. Well maybe the Teapot Dome Scandal or Chicago’s Mayor Daley and his regime might surpass the current political morass.

No one party seems to be safe from scandals either. Both Democrats and Republicans are tainted. Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, former Gov. George Ryan, Tom Noe, etc. on the GOP ticket. Kathleen Blanco, (and partner in ineptitude and corruption) Ray Nagin, Cynthia McKinney, Patrick Kennedy, and William Jefferson (is ALL of Louisiana corrupt?), etc, ad nauseum… Even the Green party has its share of sex offenders and assorted criminals.

Maybe I wouldn’t think it so bad considering we have a new election cycle closing in, but only clowns and jackasses seem to be inline for the heir apparency. Everyone seems dirty or incompetent. Maybe Senator McCain can get more illegal aliens to run for office? Hell, the Democrats claim they don’t need to be citizens to vote. Not to mention that McCain actually thinks that Americans won’t pick celery for fifty dollars an hour. (Somehow I think that poor Johnny lost just a bit of his touch with reality in the Hanoi Hilton.)

It seems that no one with any sense of integrity and intelligence is entering the political arena and those who are left view their counterparts as enemies instead of rivals. The balkanization of American politics has begun.
